Bearded America is a documentary project that explores the subculture of beard social clubs within the United States. Through a series of portraits and still life photography, this project examiines the relationships between strangers who have bonded together around one shared common interest. To better understand the concept of beard social clubs this project documents members from the social club Bearded Villains.

Established in 2014, Bearded Villains is a social club whose mission is centered around the culture of bearded men; "To Unite Bearded Men of all cultures, races, creed, and sexuality in a Brotherhood devoted to Loyalty, Honor, and Respect toward all people, Dedicated to the betterment of mankind through fraternity Charity and Kindness". With over 165 chapters in 36 countries, these men focus on various activities that help support their local community through the concepts of respect and loyalty towards the Bearded Villains' brotherhood.

The focus of this project is a photo-documenting that centers on how strangers have come together to form a close-knit community. Through a visual narration, I will tell the story around the foundations of Member, Charity, Family, Loyalty, Brotherhood, and how these men interact as a community that emerged from a digital world with the use of social media into a worldwide phenomenon that has become the Bearded Villains.
