Expression in tattoos has become a movement for a new generation. An ancient form of art once used for medical and cultural reasons has transformed into an expression of identity and storytelling. Anyone can look at a tattoo and try to understand the meaning behind the ink. However, the only way to understand each story is to understand the human canvas reasoning behind the ink. This series is a portrait documentary photography project on individuals whose tattoos have a significant meaning to their life and their identity. These individuals express the importance of their tattoos by explaining why and how they have become a part of their identity and social expression.
